So I don’t know about the rest of you, but I can’t wait for the return of Big Love tomorrow night on HBO. After the explosive ending of the last season, the family is poised to take their principles public, with greater chances of violence, chaos, and the special breed of melodrama that makes this show so fantastic and addictive.
Already HBO has small clips from the season premiere on their website, but did all of you see the teaser video from early November? The Henricksons floating in outer darkness, trying desperately to hold on to one another: not only a great metaphor for the potential disintegration of the family as we know it, but a theologically loaded image, what with Barb erased from the Mormon Book of Life and Bill setting up his own church. Also, did it remind anyone else of the opening credits to Mad Men? Just a little bit? I can’t wait!
